doctor profile

Sarah Frost is the Chief Executive Officer responsible for the two Banner Health hospitals in Southern Arizona: Banner - University Medical Center Tucson and Banner - University Medical Center Tucson South.

Sarah is an experienced hospital administrator with more than 17 years’ experience at the two academic medical centers, which are the primary teaching hospitals of the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. She earned a Master’s in Business Administration making her well equipped for the challenges faced in many healthcare settings.

The two nonprofit medical centers employ nearly 6,000 workers, making Banner - University Medical Center among the largest employers in Pima County and Banner Health the largest private employer in the state.

Sarah has served in various management and leadership roles with Banner - University Medicine and its predecessor, the University of Arizona Health Network. Most recently, she was Chief Operating Officer for the medical centers, focusing on integrating clinical and administrative operations across the two hospitals to ensure consistent, high-quality care.

As Banner’s chief hospital executive in Tucson, Sarah oversaw the much-anticipated opening of a $443 million, nine-story tower that replaced the 48-year-old original University Hospital, in April 2019.

Before her hospital career, Sarah worked for Pima County for five years as a business analyst with a focus on healthcare operations at the County’s skilled nursing facility and at Kino Community Hospital, now Banner - University Medical Center South. This unique perspective has helped her manage the complex intergovernmental agreement between Banner - University Medical Center South and Pima County. She works closely with the Pima County Administration including the Board of Supervisors to oversee Banner Health’s long-term contract to manage the hospital for the county. Sarah has been recognized as a Tucson “40 under 40” winner as well as an Arizona Capital Times’ Women Achievers of Arizona recipient. She serves on the American Heart and Stroke Association Board as well as the Sun Corridor board.
