Larry Goldberg is the president of the Banner – University Medicine Division. In this role, Goldberg oversees Banner’s three academic medical centers: Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix, Banner - University Medical Center South and Banner - University Medical Center Tucson, in addition to Banner - University Medical Group. He will be responsible for assuring ongoing operational efficiency and clinical excellence, as well as continued investment in our relationship with the University of Arizona.
Goldberg has had a distinguished career in the health care industry with extensive academic experience. He most recently served as regional president and CEO of Trinity Health’s Illinois region, which includes Loyola University Health System (LUHS) and Mercy Hospital & Medical Center. LUHS is an academic health system offering quaternary care at Loyola University Medical Center, a 547-bed teaching hospital, and community based at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, a 247-bed hospital, as well as a large ambulatory network with more than 20 locations in three counties. The system has teaching affiliations with Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine and Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing.
Under his leadership, Loyola was named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top three hospitals in the state with six nationally ranked specialties and was the only Illinois health system named by Forbes magazine to its “America’s Best Mid-Sized Employers.” Goldberg organized care, quality and financial reporting into 42 clinically integrated programs in multiple specialties including cardiovascular, oncology, organ transplant, neurosciences, musculoskeletal care and digestive disease. He improved and expanded graduate medical education programs and developed more than 70 affiliations for the medical center with local hospitals, health systems and physician groups.
