President, Banner – University Medicine Division
Kathy Bollinger is the president of the Banner – University Medicine Division, overseeing its three academic medical centers (Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, Banner – University Medical Center South and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix) in addition to Banner – University Medical Group. She is at the forefront of great change in Arizona’s health care industry and was a key force in the successful transition of the former University of Arizona Health Network hospitals to Banner.
Additionally, she is responsible for operating efficiency, clinical excellence and oversight of the University of Arizona Medical Schools’ relationships with Banner Health. In doing so, she serves as co-chair of the Academic Management Council, a governance council for Banner Academics.
Bollinger also has been a key force in the successful transition following Banner Health’s $300 million acquisition of the Sun Health medical system in late 2007. This included the acquisition and assimilation of the Del E. Webb and Boswell hospitals as well as the Sun Health Research Institute into the Banner Health family of hospitals and medical facilities. Increased patient satisfaction, leading health rankings and reports and strong financial results have followed Bollinger throughout her career.
Bollinger has spent more than three decades in health care and recently completed 31 of those with Banner Health and its predecessor entities. Bollinger’s health care journey is highlighted by such leadership positions as president of the Arizona West Region, CEO of Banner Estrella Medical Center and CEO of Banner Heart Hospital.
Bollinger holds a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology and a master’s in speech and language pathology from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.
