Communicating With Your Banner Beyond Primary Care Physician

What happens if I need care or have a question after office hours (8am – 5pm)?

Your Banner Beyond physician is available to you any time you have a medical concern. You can text or contact them directly 24-hours a day, seven days a week. 

Will I always have my own personal physician answer my calls?

Your Banner Beyond personal physician will be available to you 24/7 for every health care need you have. At times, your physician may have other commitments limiting their availability. Fortunately, Banner Beyond physicians are partners, so in the event that your physician is not available, you will receive the same level of direct communication and care from another Banner Beyond physician or care team member. All Banner Beyond physicians have secure access to members’ medical records, so you can feel confident you will receive high quality, complete care. 

Will I be able to do telehealth appointments with my Banner Beyond physician?

Yes. Launched in March 2020, Banner Health has led the way providing telehealth visits, with patients rating their experiences a 4.92 out of five stars. When scheduling an appointment, let us know if you prefer a telehealth appointment. At the time of the visit, you will receive a link that securely connects you directly with your Banner Beyond physician.

What if I have a medical issue when I am traveling?

For non-emergencies, you can text or call your personal Banner Beyond physician. They can provide telehealth services and/or help coordinate your care with the appropriate medical providers, health systems near you, or one of the 60,000 physicians connected to our program.

In the event of a life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1 or go directly to the closest hospital emergency room (ER).   

Getting Support from Your Banner Beyond Primary Care Physician and Care Team

What if I have a lot of questions during my appointment with my Banner Beyond physician?

Banner Beyond was designed to provide a more relaxed, customized health experience by limiting the number of members in the program. You will have all the time you need to ask questions and discuss available treatment options- not just medications- for any medical condition you may have. Your Banner Beyond physician will have that extra time to spend with you and be available via call or text for questions that may surface after or in-between appointments.   

What happens if I need to see a specialist?

After an evaluation by your Banner Beyond physician, a referral to a medical specialist may be needed. In such situations, your Banner Beyond physician will work with you to find the best specialist to meet your unique needs. Your clinical needs, urgency of the medical issue, and personal preferences (proximity to home, physician gender, etc.) will be discussed to find the right specialist to address your illness or condition. Your Banner Beyond physician may contact the specialist to discuss your medical needs and goals. Finally, your Banner Beyond care team will coordinate your referral and appointment by contacting the specialist and ensuring you have all the information you need to have an exceptional visit.   

May I continue to use my current primary care provider? 

As a member of Banner Beyond, your primary care will be supported exclusively by our primary care physicians to ensure continuity of care, 24/7 communication to your physician, and optimization of your Banner Beyond benefits. When you become a member, we will work with you and your current primary care provider to have your medical records transferred to the Banner Beyond physician you choose, so you can be assured your medical history is integrated into your future treatment plans.  

Joining Banner Beyond

May I use my Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for the annual membership?

Your HSA can be used to pay for many medical costs. However, you will want to check with your HSA to confirm if your funds can be used for a Banner Beyond annual membership fee. 

How do I become a member of Banner Beyond?

Please call (480) 999-2644, and we will schedule a time convenient for you to discuss program details and answer any questions you may have. We will also make sure you have an opportunity to meet with the Banner Beyond physicians and care team. We will then walk you through the registration process so you can begin to take advantage of all the benefits and services Banner Beyond offers you.
