Banner Health Plans (BHP) partners with providers to enhance care delivery by monitoring evidence-based activities and interventions aimed at improving performance. We ensure that performance measure standards are met by achieving the Triple Aim: improving member experiences and outcomes of care, advancing population health, and reducing healthcare costs.
You can find the list of performance measures that we monitor on the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System website.
BHP uses HEDIS® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) standards to measure the quality of care our providers deliver. HEDIS is used across the country to compare health plans performance. We are dedicated to ensuring members receive the best possible care and services. Annually, the organization evaluates its performance, sets goals for care and services, and develops improvement plans if goals are not met.
BHP strives to continuously improve access to quality healthcare for our members. By offering a large network of providers that work collaboratively with physician specialists throughout our network and community of preferred providers, members have optimal access to quality services and provider options. What is HEDIS?
HEDIS is a set of standardized performance measures developed and updated annually by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). It is one of healthcare’s most widely used performance improvement tools. HEDIS measurement allows consumers to compare health plan performance to other plans and to national or regional benchmarks. BHP uses these measurements to evaluate the quality of the care and services given to our members and to track year-to-year performance. HEDIS is one component of NCQA's accreditation process required by state regulators.
HEDIS Measures HEDIS includes more than 90 measures across 6 areas of care, including:
