Minimally Invasive Surgery – The Next Generation

Course Description:

A fresh approach to Minimally Invasive education with an emphasis on evidence-based protocols and the most current, state-of-art innovations in the operating room. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive in-depth and detailed overview of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Invited speakers are nationally and internationally renowned experts in fields of Minimally Invasive Colorectal and Gynecologic Surgery. It involves compelling lectures, surgical video presentations, a lively discussion and debate by world-renowned experts. Topics will include surgical anatomy, prevention of surgical complications, simulation medicine, practical approach to teaching vaginal hysterectomy, choice of hysterectomy route, discussion of open power morcellation, management of pelvic floor relaxation and stress urinary incontinence, as well as an opportunity to practice laparoscopic suturing, sling placement and perform a simulated TVH on the Hopkins low fidelity model. Featuring distinguished local faculty from Banner Health/University of Arizona as well as guest faculty from the Mayo Clinic, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins and Harvard.

At the end of this Conference attendees will understand

1. Pelvic anatomy as it relates to minimally invasive surgery. 2. Prevent and recognize surgical complications. 3. Review of current and future technology in the OR 4. Understand the basics of laparoscopic suturing and apply learned techniques in the lab 5. Understand advanced techniques in minimally invasive myomectomy 6. Review current recommendations for morcellation techniques 7. Principles of laparoscopy in the obstetrical patient. 8. Use of minimally invasive techniques in the management of cervical insufficiency. 9. Management of pelvic floor relaxation in a minimally invasive way. 10. Review the different modalities and recommendations for the management of stress urinary incontinence. 11. The role of simulation medicine and have the opportunity to perform a simulated TVH on Hopkins low fidelity model. CME Credits

Wi-Fi and Electronic Devices

Wi-Fi will be available in the meeting room during the conference. We strongly urge you to consider bringing an electronic device to take notes instead of using paper. Your notes will be easier to read and organize when you return home. Participants will be able to keep their electronic device charged in the conference room.

What to Wear

Men should dress comfortably in trousers and shirts/polos and pants; ladies in skirts or pants and knit tops/blouses. The conference room is air-conditioned and it is sometimes difficult to keep a moderate temperature for all. We recommend that you bring a jacket or sweater.

On March 30th we will be offering Round Table lunches with our renowned speakers. If you would like to participate in this you MUST register and pay a $35 fee. If you are attending the Gynecology breakout session you will have the option of signing up with a speaker based off of the schedule with speaker and topic. If you are signing up for the Colorectal breakout sessions we will offer Round Tables also, however these will not be assigned in advance. If you chose not to participate in the Round Table a boxed lunch will be provided in the Exhibit Hall. On March 31st everyone will be welcomed to the buffet lunch in the Exhibit Hall. Snacks and beverages will be provided throughout the conference.

If you are unable to attend the 2018 conference in person, you may purchase the educational materials used for the conference. This information will be sent to you approximately two weeks after the conference closes. The cost is the same as shown in this brochure. No CME/CEU credit is offered.
