Welcome to New Provider Orientation

Thank you for your interest in applying to the medical staff at Banner Lassen Medical Center.  We would like to extend a warm welcome on behalf of our Administration and the entire Medical Staff. 

We value you as a partner to work together in furthering our mission of making health care easier, so life can be better. We welcome your involvement as we cultivate a positive environment of teamwork, growth and cooperation for our patients, health care providers and associates.  We look forward to you sharing your expertise and ideas by participation in Medical Staff department meetings and encourage you to become involved in other standing committees. 

This Orientation Program has been developed to provide you with valuable information regarding how to navigate through our facility and find people who can assist you. The program is comprehensive, convenient and completion is required prior to approval of privileges. Completion of this program can be completed at any time throughout your medical staff application process.

Medical Staff Services provides administrative support to the medical staff and facilitates communication related to medical staff matters. 

Responsibilities include assisting with regulatory compliance, credentialing, peer review, resident/student rotations, continuing medical education, committees, and maintaining current governing documents of the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff: Bylaws, Policies, Rules and Regulations. 

Medical Staff Services is located within Finance in Main Hallway  and is open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Identification Badges Required on campus 

Stop by Administration to obtain your ID Badge. You will need to provide a legible government issued ID card (current driver’s license, military ID or passport).  Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers,  allied health practitioners, residents and students must wear a Banner identification badge while on campus and should be worn above the waist.

Parking

There are dedicated physician parking spots outside of the Emergency Department entrance.

Security

Banner wants everyone to be safe on campus. Our Security patrols 24/7, offering both internal and external support to providers, patients, associates and visitors.

If you observe suspicious conduct or behavior while on hospital property or if you or someone else is the victim of a crime, call security dispatch at (530) 252-2222. 

 

Banner utilizes Cerner for electronic medical record documentation. Medical Records, or Health Information Management Services (HIMS), can be reached directly at (530) 252-2211.

Clinical Documentation Specialists

Compliant Documentation Management Program (CDMP) assists the physician, via the documentation clarification and coding process, to provide the most accurate and compliant documentation for each patient.

Banner Lassen Medical Center provides Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDSs) to assist physicians by providing the most up-to-date clinical knowledge and Medicare requirements to all documentation options. CDSs also can provide physicians with the impact these options can have on severity ratings.

CDSs can be utilized concurrently on the floors and will assist the physicians in using compliant language in addition to helping with communication to the hospital coders.

Clinical Informatics Coordinator

Clinical Informatics supports the design and use of the our electronic medical record related patient care process, as well as the adoption and use of clinical systems by our physicians and other care givers to improve the quality and safety of patient care.

Banner Lassen Medical Center offers Cyracom Interpretation System and Language Assistant to make sure all patient and physicians can communicate effectively and safely. 

Our Language Assisatant can speak English and Spanish and is available on a volunteer basis to assist the staff with brief communication by calling x 2158.  The Language Assistant does not replace a medical interpreter. 

Banner Lassen also offers interpreting services for American Sign Language (ASL) for hearing impaired or deaf patients. Banner Lassen enables physicians and staff to use Cyracom interpretation phone system. Please contact the nurses station for further assistance to connect to the Cyracom system.

Note:  Title VI of the federal Civil Rights Act requires that hospitals provide interpreting services to Limited English Proficient. It is Banner Lassen policy to use ONLY a hospital medical interpreter or telephone service contracted by Banner Health for interpreting to patients, patients’ family members and physicians. Interpretation by family, friends, or untrained staff members is prohibited.
