Can I Go to Urgent Care for a Physical?

Banner Health Urgent Care Clinics offer school physicals, sports physicals, camp physicals and employment physicals. When you’re on a tight schedule or your doctor can’t see you right away, our professional, experienced staff is here to help.

What Is a Physical?

A physical exam is a preventive wellness check-up. During your physical, a Banner Health professional screens for health concerns or medical conditions that need to be treated.

Physicals generally include a review and examination of your:

  • Medical history
  • Family medical history
  • General physical health
  • Height and weight
  • Vital readings such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate and temperature
  • Vision
  • Heart
  • Lungs
  • Abdomen
  • Reflexes
  • Balance
  • Muscle strength
  • Lab tests (as needed)
  • Immunizations (as needed to ensure you’re up to date)

Please note, a sports, camp or school physical does not replace your child’s annual wellness exam done by his or her pediatrician.

Why Do I Need a Physical?

Getting a regular physical exam is important to your overall health. In many cases, proof of physical health is required to participate in a sport, attend camp, start a new job or enroll in school.

Types of physicals offered at Banner Health Urgent Care Clinics:

  • Sports physicals: Many sports teams require you to have a physical to ensure you’re healthy enough to play without risk to your health.
  • Camp physicals: Camps may require a physical to attend. This helps protect everyone’s general health and make sure campers are physically able to perform activities without risk of injury or illness.
  • Employment physicals: Some workplaces may require new employees to get a physical to ensure they have the physical capabilities necessary to perform job duties.
  • School physicals: Most school districts require students to get a physical before they can start school. This helps protect the student body and ensures each student is well enough to attend.

Walk-in physicals are available. You can also schedule an appointment for a physical at Banner Urgent Care.

What Do I Need to Bring with Me to My Physical?

Check with your school, sport, camp or employer regarding what they require. Often, there are specific forms you need the doctor to complete. Please also bring:

  • Physical form and/or requirements
  • Immunization record
  • Identification/driver’s license

For fast, friendly and compassionate care you can count on, walk in or schedule your physical exam at Banner Health Urgent Care today.
