We use the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, which allows the surgeon to work with four interactive robotic arms along with a high-performance vision system to perform surgeries.
The surgeon's fingers grasp the master controls below the display, with hands and wrists naturally positioned relative to his or her eyes. The system seamlessly translates the surgeon's hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.
The robot's long, spindly arms can easily get into hard-to-reach areas and make dime-sized incisions. The robotic surgical system cannot be programmed, nor can it make decisions on its own.
