Quality Improvement: A Collaborative Approach

At Banner - University Family Care, your partnership plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality, member‑centered care. By working together, we strengthen access to preventive services, close care gaps and help improve outcomes for individuals and families across Arizona.

Our approach to quality is grounded in clear communication, meaningful data and shared goals that support everyday clinical decision‑making.

And because the world of quality measures can sometimes feel like an alphabet soup, our Commonly Used Acronyms resource is designed to make navigating these terms easier—ultimately supporting better outcomes for the members we serve.

How Quality Is Monitored and Supported

Performance Improvement Projects (PIPs)
Quality initiatives such as the Back‑to‑Basics PIP focus on strengthening key areas of care, including:

  • Well‑Care Visits (WCV)
  • Oral Evaluation & Dental (OED) visit rates

These efforts are designed to simplify workflows, improve follow‑up and enhance consistency across care teams.

Data Collection & Reporting

  • HEDIS® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) and AHCCCS data is collected and validated through Inovalon, an NCQA‑certified vendor, using claims, lab results and pharmacy records.
  • Information is analyzed monthly using internal dashboards.
  • Progress is summarized quarterly in the Performance Measure Monitoring Report (PMMR).

Quality Measures That Guide Our Work

These measures, including several key HEDIS® metrics, serve as a roadmap for improving clinical care, enhancing behavioral health follow‑up and supporting maternal and child wellness. HEDIS measures help ensure consistency, reliability, and comparability of care quality across plans and providers.
