Health Tip: Avoiding Gluten in Medication
(HealthDay News) -- If you are allergic or intolerant to gluten, even a small amount can trigger a reaction.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics warns that some over-the-counter and prescription meds contain gluten, and probably should be avoided by people who are sensitive to the substance.
Here's what the academy suggests:
Carefully read the ingredients on all of your meds.
Speak to your doctor about your gluten sensitivity.
Ask your pharmacist to double check the ingredients on any meds you are picking up.
