Jason Nelson

MDM PITCHING PERFORMANCE ASSISTANT COACH

Jason Nelson is an Arizona native who developed his passion for baseball in the Valley, attending Pinnacle High School before continuing his career at Central Arizona College. During his time at Central Arizona, he was a member of a JUCO World Series championship team and was selected in the 31st round of the MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres.

Following Central Arizona College, Nelson went on to compete at both the University of Louisiana Lafayette and Grand Canyon University, gaining experience across multiple levels of collegiate baseball.

His playing career was shaped by adversity, including a UCL injury that ultimately refined his perspective on performance training. That experience instilled a lasting emphasis on injury prevention, movement efficiency and long-term athlete development—principles that now serve as the foundation of his coaching philosophy.

Now a Performance Coach with MDM Pitching Performance, Nelson brings nearly four years of experience developing pitchers through an individualized, data-driven approach. His work integrates advanced technologies such as TrackMan, motion capture and KinaTrax to deliver objective insight into performance. Beyond data collection and analysis, Nelson prioritizes athlete education—helping pitchers understand their unique profiles and how to optimize their strengths. His approach is centered on building durable, efficient and high-performing athletes capable of sustaining success at the highest levels of competition.
