Vallerie Valle

SPORT PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Valerie Valle is a licensed psychologist specializing in sport and performance psychology. She works at the intersection of mental health and mental performance, helping athletes and performers develop mental skills to thrive in sport and life. Her expertise includes overcoming performance anxiety, navigating difficult life transitions, and evaluating and treating mood disorders. Using a "third-wave" cognitive and behavioral therapy approach, she helps athletes improve their relationship with difficult internal experiences to respond to life with greater awareness, flexibility, and satisfaction.

Dr. Valle holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Sport & Exercise Psychology from Arizona School of Professional Psychology/Argosy University. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at UC-Riverside and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of New Mexico, where she built the first sport psychology program and served Division-I collegiate athletes from 2009 to 2017. She subsequently established another sport psychology program at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, serving as consulting psychologist for IMG Academy from 2017 to 2025. She is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and is listed on mental performance registries for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and National Basketball Players Association.

Dr. Valle is a qualified level I teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction from Brown University's Mindfulness Center. She has presented at numerous conferences on student-athlete mental health and serves in leadership positions across professional organizations including the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and American Psychological Association Division-47. A lifelong athlete with honors from USA Triathlon and US Masters Swimming, she maintains a regular meditation practice.
