About Us

Hospitalists are physicians responsible for your care and treatment while you are in the hospital. They care for you from hospital admission to discharge. Throughout your stay, they coordinate communication between all of the physicians involved in your care, including your primary care physician and your specialists. They order tests and procedures and are committed to doing their best to provide a consistently high level of care during your hospital stay. All of Banner Health’s hospitalist physicians are board certified or board eligible in their respective specialties, such as Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or Geriatrics. Once a patient is discharged, the care of the patient returns to his/her primary care (regular) doctor.

Research has demonstrated that care provided by an intensivist can consistently produce better patient outcomes and is a cost-effective choice. In addition, your Banner intensivist may be able to prevent an unnecessary ICU admission, reduce complications that can prolong a length of stay, decrease the number of lab tests and identify opportunities for you or your loved one to leave the hospital sooner.
