Outpatient Wound Clinic

Banner Boswell Outpatient Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is a proven resource for patients whose wounds have not healed with standard treatment. Our physicians start with an in-depth evaluation that leads to a correct diagnosis for optimal healing. From there patients will receive an individualized and comprehensive plan of care. The most common reasons patients turn to our clinic include:

  • Diabetic ulcer
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Radiation skin injuries
  • Soft tissue and bone infections
  • Surgical wounds
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Wounds caused by limited blood flow
  • Wounds caused by auto-immune disorders
  • Wounds that have not healed within 30 days
  • Ostomy management

Treatments can include:

  • Topical dressings
  • Antimicrobial dressings
  • Advanced dermal replacements
  • Debridement
  • Compression therapy
  • Offloading/Casting

The Advanced Wound Care Clinic is located in Banner Boswell Medical Center on the 3rd floor in Suite 306. Our specialized providers and nurses will work with your current physician team to maximize your healing opportunity. This can include the coordination of services such as home health, case management, and even hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Also located on the second floor of the Boswell Medical Center, the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Suite provides pure oxygen treatment under pressure in one of three clear chambers. This proven therapy temporarily restores normal levels of oxygen in the blood to help fight infection and promote healing in wounded tissue.

Hyperbaric Medicine

Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy is used only after there are no measurable signs of healing for at least 30 days of treatment with standard wound therapy. Hyperbaric therapy must also be used in addition to standard wound care. Disease processes treatable with Hyperbaric Oxygen include:

  • Preparation & preservation of comprised skin grafts
  • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
  • Osteoradionecrosis
  • Soft tissue radionecrosis
  • Diabetic wounds of lower extremities, if:
    • Wagner Grade III or higher
    • Failed wound therapy course
  • And other conditions under Medicare guidelines

Our Ostomy Clinic

Located within the Outpatient Wound Clinic, our ostomy clinic services include:

  • Problem appliance fitting and management
  • Peri-stomal skin problems
  • Continent diversion management/education
  • Fistula management
  • Percutaneous tube stabilization/management
  • Pre-operative stoma site marking for colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy
