Please beware of risk factors for overdose and death.
- Using drugs in a bathroom, bedroom or behind a locked door significantly increases risk of death due to delayed discovery and access to emergency services.
- Consuming multiple drugs at the same time (polysubstance use) will increase the chances of overdose and death. Never combine!
- When drugs are smoked, injected or snorted the risk of overdose and death increases significantly.
- Having experienced an overdose in the past increases the risk of an overdose in the future. Know the risk!
- Returning to drug use for the first time after release from a hospital, jail or other facility.
