Justice System Liaison

What do  Justice System Liaisons do? Justice system liaisons help people who are dealing with the legal system. They act like a bridge between you and the courts.

Here's how they help:

  • They give you support and answer your questions about the legal process
  • They make sure everyone can talk to each other clearly
  • They help your case move along smoothly
  • They show you how the justice and court systems work

Reach-In Services (Pre-release)

Reach-In Services are special help that starts before someone leaves jail or prison.

Who Provides This Help?

AHCCCS works with health plans like Banner Health to provide this care. Instead of waiting until you get out, trained staff, called Jail Liaisons or Justice System Liaisons, "reach in" to help you while you're still locked up. They are "reaching in" from the outside world to connect with you on the inside. This way, you don't have to wait until release day to get help. You can start planning and getting support right away.

The goal of Reach-In Services is to help make sure you're healthy and ready when it's time to leave. This makes it easier to succeed once you're back in the community.

Help Before You Leave Jail

B – UFC/ACC has special helpers called Jail Liaisons. Here's what they do:

  • Meet with you quickly - They will visit you (in person or by video) within 5 days after they learn you're in jail. They can visit again if you need them.
  • Make sure you get your medicine - They help you get important medications while you're in jail, like:
    • Diabetes medicine
    • Mental health medicine
    • Care if you're pregnant
  • Plan for when you leave - Before you get out, they help you:
    • Set up doctor visits
    • Find a place to live
    • Arrange rides to appointments
  • Give you support - They check what else you need and offer friendly help.

Re-Entry Services (Post-release)

Going from jail or prison back to regular life can be really hard. Re-Entry services make this transition easier. They also and help you build a better future. The goal is to give you the tools and support you need to successfully return to your community.

Help After You Leave Prison/Jail

If you're leaving prison: Our Justice System Liaison will help you make your first appointment with a regular doctor (called a PCP).

For everyone: Banner Health has doctors and staff who understand what you've been through. They can help with:

  • Court-ordered programs - Like classes for domestic violence (DV), driving under the influence (DUI), and other programs the court says you must attend
  • Rides to important places - Transportation to rehab, first appointments, or court dates
  • Someone to talk to - Peer support from people who’ve been in your shoes and understand
  • Help with confusing systems - Guidance through the legal system and healthcare system
  • Tools and Supports:
    • Life skills - Learning how to manage money, fill out forms, and handle daily tasks
    • Jobs - Getting job training or finding work
