GILBERT, Ariz. – Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert has opened a new pharmacy. Conveniently located within the cancer center, Banner Family Pharmacy offers patients the option of filling prescribed medications on site.
The Banner Family Pharmacy is located on the first floor of the cancer center and is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Unique among other Banner Family Pharmacy locations in the Valley, the site at Banner MD Anderson offers a specialized pharmacy experience – focused on providing oncology and supportive therapies for patients of the cancer center. This includes oral oncology medications, pain and other symptom management medications, and supplemental therapies. In addition, the Learning Center (located in the pharmacy lobby area) will provide written education materials and computer terminals for patients and caregivers to learn more about their diagnosis and plan of care.
Expert pharmacists provide one-on-one education and personal therapy consultation. The pharmacy also sells over-the-counter medications and personal hygiene items. Most insurance plans are accepted.
“We are excited to offer convenient pharmacy services to patients undergoing treatment at Banner MD Anderson,” said Melissa Duke, Banner’s specialty pharmacy director. “In addition to offering competitive pricing, prescriptions filled on site, personalized consultation and education, the retail space in this location will offer items recommended by providers in the James M. Cox Foundation Center for Cancer Prevention and Integrative Oncology, such as aromatherapy, nutritional supplements and herbal remedies.”
