Uber offers free rides for a good cause

July 01, 2016

PHOENIX (July 1, 2016) – Want to help raise money for cancer patients while receiving a free ride from Uber to your destination? Starting June 30 and running through Dec. 31, anyone who downloads the Uber app and uses the new user promo code, GIVEHOPE, will receive their first ride with Uber for free (up to $15), with an additional $10 going back to Banner Health Foundation to support Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. This code is not exclusive to Arizona, and can be used in any market where Uber is available.
The promotion offers a safe and inexpensive option to traveling during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

In Arizona, 443 motorists were arrested during the July 4 weekend last year on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to state law-enforcement records.

“We are thrilled to partner with Uber to offer free rides for a great cause,” said Andy Petersen, President, Banner Health Foundation. “Funds raised through this partnership will go directly to support programs and services for patients at Banner MD Anderson.”

“Uber is so pleased to partner with Banner Health Foundation to help raise money for cancer patients, while at the same time, working to reduce DUIs in Arizona,” said Steve Thompson, Uber Arizona General Manager. “Together we can raise awareness for a critical cause, and Uber is thrilled to help do so by promoting reliable transportation options to individuals across the Grand Canyon state."
