SUN CITY, Ariz. (March 24, 2021) – With COVID-19 visitor restrictions easing, hospital visitors will get a pleasant surprise at Banner Boswell Medical Center: a new entrance and lobby is waiting for them.
The new areas are part of an overall $106 million expansion project to the campus that created a new emergency department and new patient tower. It is the first major renovation project for the campus in 30 years.
As part of the project, the new patient tower’s first floor will contain the main lobby, gift shop, retail pharmacy, admitting desk and chapel, outside patio seating, along with connecting shelled space for future build-out of a new cardiac catheterization lab. The five floors above the lobby will be reserved for future state-of-the-art private inpatient rooms.
“We are so excited about our entrance and lobby. We think this new space is a wonderful way to welcome visitors and patients to our hospital,’’ said Sharon Lind, CEO of Banner Boswell Medical Center.
“This new addition will truly transform how our community accesses Banner Boswell for care, and will certainly serve the community for generations to come,’’ she added.

The project was completed in late 2020, when Banner Boswell opened its new 40,000 square-foot emergency department, with 56 treatment bays and ultrasound facilities in the heart of the department. In responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, 16 negative-pressure rooms were added as well as four bays dedicated to outpatient monoclonal antibody treatment for patients who test positive for COVID-19.
