GLENDALE (July 7, 2023) - In an extraordinary display of kindness and solidarity, Phoenix Mercury players recently paid a heartfelt visit to patients at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.
The players who are widely recognized for their dedication on the court, extended that same dedication off the court by spending quality time with patients, their families, and hospital staff. Patient rooms filled with excitement and encouragement.
The Phoenix Mercury also participated in friendly games with patients from Behavioral Health, creating an atmosphere of excitement and joy. Recognizing the uplifting impact that this visit had on the patients, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center aims to collaborate with sports organizations like the Phoenix Mercury to continue organizing events that bring joy, inspiration, and motivation to patients during their recovery journeys.
"We are profoundly grateful for the incredible efforts of the Phoenix Mercury players and team members. Their visit not only brought immense joy to our patients but also reminded them that they are part of a larger community, providing support during challenging times,” said Wendy Pauker, associate director of Child Life at Banner Thunderbird. “This compassionate outreach left an indelible impact on the patients, and their families."
