Our patients and their families have a right to expect excellent patient care. They also have a right to expect privacy, respect and information about their care, plus the highest levels of service.
One key indicator that lets us know how we’re performing to our mission is a survey sent to patients shortly after their discharge. This survey focuses on a patient’s entire patient care experience; since we know that every point of contact determines how they feel about the care they receive.
Our survey tool is the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers Survey (HCAHPS). This survey was created by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and allows hospitals across the country to compare the patient experience using a common survey tool. Once patients receive a survey, they will have 12 weeks to return it. Completing the survey will provide us with valuable feedback to ensure we’re providing excellent patient care.
