Orthopedic Trauma Center

The Orthopedic Trauma Center, a division of the Orthopedic & Spine Institute at Banner- University Medical Center Phoenix is one of the premier level one trauma centers in the Southwestern United States. Simply stated, our expert team uses state of the art surgical and non-surgical techniques to manage traumatic orthopedic injuries and conditions. It combines the best academic research and clinical trials with the most advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques for all orthopedic trauma injuries. 

Our expert surgeons are skilled in addressing both primary fracture care and reconstructive fracture problems related to infections, fractures that do not heal or heal incorrectly, and leg length discrepancy. Leveraging the best clinical practices and protocols for both conservative and surgical care, our board certified surgeons and skilled orthopedic trauma nurse navigator guide patients from their hospital stay to their clinic follow up care. Our in-house physiatrists and physical therapy teams partner with us to deliver a collaborative and streamlined plan of care individualized for each patient.

About the Center

Most patients come to the Orthopedic Trauma Center because of an emergent or traumatic injury such as a car crash or industrial accident. The Center also treats complications from injuries as well as bone fractures that are not healing correctly. Our specialized treatment includes:

  • All fractures including ribs/chest wall
  • Non-union/mal-union fractures where the bone either does not heal correctly or the healing causes a deformity 
  • Bone infections/ osteomyelitis
  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Deformity corrections
  • Amputation
  • Ground level falls
  • Crush injuries
  • Car/motorcycle/industrial accidents
