The Sports Medicine Center delivers specialized sports and exercise medicine services to help prevent and treat:
- Acute and chronic sports-related injuries
- Knee ligament, cartilage and meniscus injuries
- Shoulder injuries
- Trauma and/or stress fractures
- Overuse injuries
- Sports hernias
- Sports-related hip injuries
We also treat chronic illnesses and medical conditions that can affect athletic performance such as:
- Cardiac disease

The patients at the Sports Medicine Center are guided through our care model that can combine both inpatient and post-acute clinical care. This innovative and highly collaborative approach includes additional classes and educational materials that we provide to everyone we treat at the Orthopedic Institute and each of our centers.
The University of Arizona, in coordination with Banner – University Medicine, conducts a variety of research studies and clinical trials
to support a commitment to improving patient care. As a patient at Banner – University Medical Center, you may be eligible to participate, meaning you’ll have access to new treatments which may not yet be available to the public.

Our collaborative interdisciplinary teams, including our primary care sports medicine physicians, physical and occupational therapists and general orthopedic surgeons are all uniquely equipped to provide comprehensive and preventative orthopedic health care. The Concussion Center
works with athletes to not just treat concussions, but to teach them how to prevent head injuries.
