About the Center

The Behavioral Health Center at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix provides comprehensive mental health services for adults 18 and older. To help the community, we have 22 inpatient beds available, an outpatient clinic, consultation services, fully-accredited psychiatry residency training programs and psychologist internships. We also perform clinically oriented research activities.

We are a major teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix Campus. Our full-time professional staff includes seven board certified faculty psychiatrists, a doctoral-level psychologist, a master's level counselor and 20 psychiatry residents. The Behavioral Health Center's presence at a major academic medical center provides ready access to more than 1,000 specialists from Banner Health’s various institutes and centers, along with state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities.

Our professional staff thoroughly evaluates and treats essentially all mental illnesses, as well as the psychological aspects of complicated physical problems and the special needs of the elderly. Our clinical approach is individualized, humanistic and thorough in our goals of fostering the highest quality of patient care.

Patient Education

Patient education is provided in an ongoing basis during therapy and medication management sessions at the Behavioral Health Center. Through other clinical programs at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, our staff also participates in support groups for cancer and cardiac patients.

Research

The University of Arizona, in coordination with Banner – University Medicine, conducts a variety of research studies and clinical trials to support a commitment to improving patient care. As a patient at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, you may be eligible to participate, meaning you’ll have access to new treatments which may not yet be available to the public.
