Since 2003, the Native American Outreach program has worked to support tribal communities by increasing understanding, prevention and care surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related illnesses. Through education, collaboration and culturally informed outreach, the program helps improve knowledge, access to care and support for families and caregivers.
In 2008, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute partnered with the Native American Outreach program to expand services across Arizona’s tribal and urban Indian communities, in partnership with Native American health organizations.

This annual event provides culturally guided education for caregivers, families and professionals. Topics may include new research, community caregiving models and available support services.
This monthly virtual support group provides a safe space to share experiences and learn tools for caring for loved ones with memory loss.

This free monthly email resource offers practical caregiving tips and updates for families and professionals supporting someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
The Native American Outreach program also helps connect older Native American adults to opportunities in normal aging and cognition studies, clinical trials and brain imaging research that may shape future treatments.
