The BIG Pink Bus Event Coordinator Guidelines

Scheduling a visit from The BIG Pink Bus is simple, but site coordinators must meet a few basic requirements.

Participation guidelines

To avoid cancellation, at least 17 participants must register at least 48 hours (two days) before the event. 

  • Schedule the mobile mammography unit at least six weeks before your event date.
  • Site coordinators are responsible for handling permits, site approvals, meter bagging and other necessary logistics.
  • Begin event publicity, including participant eligibility criteria, 30 to 90 days before your event.

Location guidelines

The BIG Pink Bus must be parked in a paved, level area with the following requirements: 

  • Dimensions: at least 60 feet long, 15 feet wide and 14 feet high (clearance).
  • The parking area must allow for wide turns and cannot have sharp corners in narrow spaces.
  • Ensure the site is free from low-hanging tree branches or wires.
  • Avoid routes with railroad tracks and speed bumps.
  • The parking site should be near restrooms, as there is no restroom on the bus.

Important notes

The bus can participate in health fairs and provide education on screening mammography but cannot provide screenings during the health fair itself.
