Leukemia & Lymphoma Care

Complete Care for Blood Cancers

Leukemia and lymphoma (also called lymphatic cancer) are two of the most common blood cancers. According to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, nearly 1.1 million Americans are living with these blood cancers. Fortunately, survival rates for these cancers continue to increase.

If you’ve been diagnosed with leukemia, Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma, you’re not alone in your fight. Banner Health is your partner in cancer care. Our oncologists, cancer surgeons, specially trained nurses and patient navigators work together to make sure you have the latest treatments for leukemia and lymphoma, along with plenty of information, support and assurance.

What Are Leukemia & Lymphoma Symptoms?

There are 2 main types of lymphoma: Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin. Hodgkin lymphoma usually starts in a lymph node in your chest or neck and typically only spreads to other nearby lymph nodes. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma can start anywhere and is more likely to spread throughout your body.

Leukemia is cancer that starts in the blood-forming tissue. There are main types: acute and chronic myeloid leukemia, and acute and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The differences in these types have to do with how quickly they progress and where they start.

Depending on the type of leukemia or lymphoma, your condition may get worse quickly or very slowly. In fact, sometimes routine blood work finds these cancers before any symptoms appear.

When they do start to show up, possible symptoms of leukemia and lymphoma can include:

  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Infections
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Unexplained weight loss
