Brain and Body Donation Researcher Registration Guide

The primary purpose of this guide is to help you navigate the Brain and Body Donation Registration site. If you have any questions, please check out our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) or contact us to send an email to the site administrators.

Summary of steps

  1. Register on the site, ensuring you fill out all required fields.
  2. Confirm your email address by clicking the button in confirmation email.
  3. Wait up to 10 days for an email stating that your account has been approved.
  4. Log in with your approved account.
  5. Navigate to your profile by clicking your name in the top navigation bar.
  6. Complete your info page with any missing details.
  7. Add any necessary information under PI, Grants, Legal, or Recipients tabs.
  8. Go to the Downloads tab to view current tissue samples.
  9. Click the Tissue Registration link in the navigation bar.
  10. Fill out the tissue request, which will auto-populate with the information from your profile.
  11. Submit the tissue request as a Draft if you need to make changes later or Complete if you are finished.
  12. If submitted as a draft, edit it later under the Request History tab in your profile and submit it as Complete when ready.
  13. Wait for review by site administrators.

  • An account is required to view tissue stock or submit a tissue request.
  • This process helps document productivity for granting agencies that fund us.
  • It also ensures, for ethical reasons, that tissue requestors are qualified to conduct research.
  • Fill out all required fields (marked with a *) and press Submit to create your account.
  • You should receive an email confirming that your account will be reviewed within 10 days. Please be sure to click the button in this email to verify your email address.

Your profile

Your profile is accessed by clicking the section underneath your name in the top navigation bar. It allows you to update your information, view submitted requests, download documents or reset your password.

Profile information

Filling out your profile ensures your information is preloaded in tissue requests, saving time and allowing for reuse.

  • Info: Personal and account-related details
  • PI (Principal Investigator): If a junior scientist or technician submits a request under a qualified principal investigator (PI), the PI’s credentials may allow approval.
  • Grants: Used to document research supported by funding agencies such as the National Institutes of Health. This is important for documentation of our productivity.
  • Legal: Required for our legal team to establish a Materials Transfer Agreement (MTA) with your institution.
  • Recipients: The designated recipient of the tissue shipment.

Request history

This page shows all tissue requests submitted under your account.

  • Draft requests: can be edited before submissions.
  • Completed requests: Can be viewed but not edited. To make changes, contact a site administrator to revert the request to Draft status.

Tissue request

Auto-populated information

  • Any information from your profile will be automatically applied to tissue requests.
  • Ensure your profile is up to date before submitting a request.
  • PI, Grants, Legal and Recipients added in your profile will be available for selection.

Completing a tissue request

  • Expand or collapse each section by clicking the panel header.
  • Fill out all required fields (marked with a *).
  • Use dropdown menus to autofill information from your profile.
  • Choose Draft if you need to edit later or Complete if you’re finished.
  • Click Submit to send your request. You will receive a confirmation email when the site administrators receive it.
