Brain & Body Donation Program

The Brain and Body Donation Program (BBDP) is a study of the health and diseases of elderly volunteers living in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. We study their function during life and their organs and tissue after death. We also share the banked tissue, biomaterials and biospecimens with qualified researchers worldwide.

We are currently accepting donors with:

• Cognitively normal
• Alzheimer’s
• Parkinson’s
• Dementia with Lewy Bodies
• REM sleep behavior disorder
• Cancer

These are devastating illnesses that affect millions of people. Because many such disorders often uniquely afflict human beings and acquiring tissue samples from living people is seldom possible, progress toward finding cures is critically dependent on the study of tissue samples from the deceased patients.

Since 1987, more than 3,000 community members have joined us in our scientific efforts. We are hoping that others follow their lead for the sake of their loved ones.

Donors must:

• Be residents of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area
• Commit to attending annual clinical assessments in Sun City
• Agree to donate their brain and/or body after death
