Support Healing Through Your Time and Compassion

Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting the mission of Banner Health - making health care easier, so life can be better. At Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, volunteers help create a compassionate, welcoming, and supportive environment for patients, families, and staff, contributing to the healing and recovery process.

Adult volunteer requirements

To ensure a great experience for both you and those we serve, all adult applicants must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Commit to at least 6 months and 100 hours, serving one 4 hour shift per week
  • Complete an interview, information session, application, health screening, fingerprint clearance card and background check (processing may take 3–4 weeks)
  • Provide current immunization records (MMR, Varicella, seasonal Influenza) and complete a TB test with a negative result
  • Attend a new volunteer orientation and complete any required department training

Volunteer opportunities 

We offer a variety of meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the hospital. Volunteers contribute their time and talents in several areas, including:

  • Guest services - information desks & lobbies
  • Intake department
  • Volunteer/Administrative offices
  • Clinical areas - adolescents and adults
  • Recreational therapy
  • Intensive outpatient program

Each role offers a unique opportunity to provide support, build connections, and positively impact the experiences of those receiving care.
