Cancer Companion Program

Like a Warm Blanket

An estimated 1.7 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed this year.

Imagine the flood of emotions upon hearing the words: "You have cancer."

Indescribable, surreal, painful, fearful ... And, hopeful.

Now, imagine the gift of a companion who has not only heard those words, but has survived them. Who faced cancer and beat it. Someone who now wants to share the journey with someone just starting out on their own.

A cancer companion.

Join us in making history at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center by making a gift to the Cancer Companion program that seeks to pair individuals recently diagnosed with cancer with a compatible and compassionate survivor.

You can help us make cancer history by wrapping a nice, warm blanket of hope around those in the fight of their lives. Every dollar counts. Whether you give $50 or $500 or more, your donation offers comfort and support to these individuals.

Cancer Companion Program
The vision at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center is to establish a formal volunteer Cancer Companion program to connect newly diagnosed cancer patients with survivors. The program will be aligned with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, MyCancerConnection, providing access to an established network of trained volunteer cancer survivors willing to encourage and support newly diagnosed cancer patients. The impact of the Cancer Companion program will be the positive benefit to every person who has a mentor, enabling them to feel supported and encouraged in the cancer journey.
