If you are in Arizona and have an out-of-state cell phone, dial (602) 253-3334 to reach the poison center.

We offer FREE 24-hour help by phone. The phone is answered by Registered Nurses or Poison Information Providers specifically trained in handling poison emergencies. By calling (800) 222-1222 you can get emergency information on:

  • Poisonings
  • Scorpion stings
  • Snake, insect and spider bites
  • Medications
  • Chemical exposures
  • Pill identification
  • Drug overdoses

How we help:

  • Callers can be helped in more than 150 languages.
  • The Poison Center staff is comprised of registered nurses and poison information providers who have received extensive training in managing poisonings/drug overdoses.
  • Staff have 24/7 access to Medical Toxicologists

Our History

Established in 1979, the Banner Poison and Drug Information Center has continuously served the citizens of Maricopa County and surrounding counties for almost 40 years. It is supported by Banner- University Medical Center Phoenix, the state of Arizona, federal government and charitable donations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote the health and safety of the community by:

Serving as the primary resource for the residents and Healthcare professionals of Maricopa County for:

  • Accidental and intentional poisonings
  • Envenomations
  • Toxicity or adverse effects of medications or chemicals
  • Providing education for the public and healthcare professionals in poison prevention and treatment
  • Assessing and treating accidental and intentional poisonings by telephone triage, consultation and follow-ups
