Banner Health statement regarding vaccinated team members

A statement from Banner Health CEO Peter Fine:

Banner Health’s COVID vaccine requirement went into effect on November 1. We are pleased to share that 97% of our 62,000 team members, contracted workers and affiliated doctors have complied with this new policy. It demonstrates their strong commitment to protecting one another and the patients we serve.

We respect this was a difficult choice for some team members. Those who chose not to comply will be placed on unpaid leave and will have until November 30 to comply with this requirement or resign.

In accordance with federal and state law, some obtained a medical or religious exemption from the vaccine and will follow proper safety protocols. These measures include frequent testing, a requirement of some states in which we operate.

There were no interruptions in our delivery of care as a result of this requirement going into effect.
