Banner Olive Branch Senior Center offers free rides to COVID-19 vaccinations

Effort to make sure all seniors have a way to get vaccinated

SUN CITY, Ariz. (April 30, 2021) – Any person 60 years and older without a way to get to COVID-19 vaccination sites now can get free transportation to and from the site thanks to a partnership between Banner Olive Branch Senior Center and the Area Agency on Aging.

Seniors can call (623) 465-6009 to arrange transportation that will be provided by Northwest Valley Connect, a nonprofit transportation service. Banner Olive Branch is providing the call coordination and the Area Agency on Aging has provided the funding for transportation.

‘‘We all know that it is critical for our seniors to get vaccinated against COVID-19 but sometimes transportation can be an obstacle for our seniors. We want to remove that obstacle,’’ said Dawn Gielau, director of Banner Olive Branch.

Banner Olive Branch will work to ensure every person with a vaccination appointment is provided transportation, Gielau said.
