PHOENIX – Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center this week marks the completion of its $19.25 million expansion on the Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix campus, to meet the community’s growing demand for more services to treat the disease.

“This greatly increases our ability to improve patient experience by expanding our services to provide comprehensive, high-quality cancer care to the patients we serve,” said Dr. Rogerio Lilenbaum, director of Banner MD Anderson. “This includes more specialized exams and services, consultations, infusions and imaging services all in one convenient place.”

The project brings an additional 43 exam rooms, nearly triple its original size of 16 rooms; two procedure rooms; four consultation rooms; 41 infusion chairs; and expands the lab, pharmacy and imaging areas.

The Laura Dreier Breast Center will also relocate from inside the hospital on campus to                                Banner MD Anderson, making it easier for patients to receive preventive care, annual screening services, expert diagnostic services, biopsies, bone density and ultrasounds.

Banner MD Anderson at Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix opened in June 2019 and exceeded demand projections in many areas such as infusions and patient consultations within the first year.

In the East Valley, Banner MD Anderson recently opened a $1 million Investigational Cancer Therapeutics Research Unit in its Cancer Center on the Banner Gateway Medical Center campus in Gilbert. This marked a major milestone for cancer research in the southwest.
