PHOENIX, Ariz. – Dr. Rajeev Kathuria recently joined Banner Medical Group as Banner Community Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgeon Leader in the Arizona market.
Dr. Kathuria is well known as a top cardiovascular thoracic surgeon, having served the community through his surgical practice for nearly 30 years. He built the heart program at Banner Boswell Medical Center in his role as chief of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and medical director of the Structural Heart program.

Earlier this month, Dr. Kathuria was honored by the Sun Health Foundation at this year’s virtual “Heroes with Heart” gala for his expertise and longstanding service to the community. He has been recognized as one of the top cardiac surgeons in the country and is considered an expert in minimally invasive valve surgery.

Most recently, Banner Boswell achieved a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, or CABG, based on performance measures involving surgical processes and outcomes. The designation places Banner Boswell in the Top 6% to 7% of all CABG programs in the U.S. In achieving the three-star rating, Lind says she “credits Dr. Kathuria’s leadership, commitment and dedication to the Banner Boswell heart program, along with the exquisite team of clinicians focused on quality outcomes for our patients and community we serve.”
Dr. Kathuria said, “We are very proud to have received this recognition. It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire Cardiovascular surgical team. This three-star rating from the STS places us amongst the elite heart surgery centers in the nation.”
Dr. Kathuria received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and his Bachelor of Science degree from George Washington University. Prior to joining Banner Medical Group, he served as managing partner of Arizona Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons, PLLC.
