Banner Health, Atlas Healthcare Partners, Cardiac Solutions align for new cardiovascular ASC

West Valley ambulatory surgery center will be first of its kind

PHOENIX, (May 5, 2021) – Banner Health and Atlas Healthcare Partners have entered into a partnership with Cardiac Solutions to open a freestanding cardiovascular ambulatory surgery center (ASC). The partnership marks a crucial step in the development of a cardiology specific strategy for Banner Surgery Centers and is the result of an important provider and health system alignment.

“This is a great example of how Banner is using an ASC partnership to work with physicians who have the cardiovascular expertise to help deliver high quality, value-based care in a convenient setting for patients” said Joan Thiel, vice president of Ambulatory Services at Banner Health. “We’re happy to be working with Atlas, our partner in ASC development, to make these opportunities a reality and help us provide the best and easiest care for our patients.”

The surgery center will be the first Banner Cardiovascular Center of its kind and will offer outpatient cardiology-specific care to patients in the west valley of Phoenix (Sun City). The Banner Cardiovascular Center is scheduled to open this spring with three cath labs and capabilities for conducting diagnostic heart catheterizations, heart stenting (PCI), Electrophysiology device implants – pacemakers loop recorders and AICDs, and peripheral arterial disease (PAD).

Cardiac Solutions is the leading provider of cardiovascular services in west Phoenix. “We are proud to be part of the ‘first of its kind’ Banner-Atlas cardiovascular ambulatory surgical center in the metro Phoenix area” said Joseph Caplan, MD, managing partner and founder of Cardiac Solutions. “On behalf of our physicians and team members, we believe that this relationship will enhance the patient experience and provide excellent patient care, while focusing on preserving precious healthcare dollars”.

Atlas Healthcare Partners will oversee the development and operations for the Banner Cardiovascular Center and will be responsible for the continued growth strategies of the cardiovascular service line within the Banner Surgery Center network. “We are excited to work with Banner Health and Cardiac Solutions and help align and expand the cardiovascular service line”” said Aric Burke, CEO of Atlas Healthcare Partners. “This is a great opportunity to bring lower cost, outpatient cardiovascular care to Banner patients and we’re happy to utilize our ASC development and management expertise to contribute to the evolution of cardiovascular care.”
