Doug Bowen is senior vice president of Supply Chain Services at Banner Health. Mr. Bowen joined Banner in 2002 as vice president of Supply Chain Services. His focus is on supply chain cost discipline, utilization improvement, multi-facility operations and value analysis. His goal is to optimize network value for patients, payers, providers and suppliers using a fully integrated and vertical supply chain model. Mr. Bowen has successfully transitioned the delivery and management of the Banner Health supply chain from a multi-individual hospital perspective to a centralized, high-performance corporate supply chain service center for 30 hospitals.
Under Mr. Bowen’s leadership, Banner Health’s Supply Chain Services has achieved a position in the Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25 for eight consecutive years. This annual ranking by Gartner, a global research and advisory firm, ranks Banner Health’s supply chain at #2 in the Top 25. In 2021, Banner’s Supply Chain was selected as the Healthcare Purchasing News (HPN) Supply Chain Department of the year, noting exceptional pandemic preparedness/response, vertical supply chain capabilities, including internal distribution of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, surgical kit packing, manufacturing and sterilization operations, pharmacy robotics and mail-order prescription services.
Prior to joining Banner, Mr. Bowen served 17 years in health care supply chain Leadership positions with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) in Utah, Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas. He earned a BS in Business Administration from Utah State University, MBA from Belmont University, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) from Purdue University.
