Q: My son/daughter is having suicidal thoughts, who can I go to for help?

If this is an emergency, call 911. For immediate help, call the National Suicide Hotline Number at (800) 273-8255.

If you are in the Phoenix area, call the Phoenix Valley Help Line at (480) 448-7511  or go in person to the Banner Behavioral Health Hospital to receive a free assessment for you or your loved one. If you are not in the Phoenix area, Banner is here to help you. Call the Banner Appointment Line at (800) 254-4357.

Q: How do I make sure my loved ones are safe?

If this is an emergency and you fear for the safety of you or your loved one, call 911. For immediate help, call the National Suicide Hotline Number at (800) 273-8255.

If this is not an emergency, we offer many resources to keep you and your loved ones safe in the case of a behavioral health crisis. Start by getting a free assessment over the phone. Call us at (800) 254-4357. Based on the assessment, we can offer additional resources and support as you begin your mental health recovery journey. 

If you are in the Phoenix area, you can also receive an in-person assessment at the Banner Behavioral Health Hospital.

Q: What are the signs of a crisis?
A: Some of the most common signs that a person is facing a mental health crisis and may benefit from evaluation include:

  • Continuous feelings of hopelessness
  • Increased sensitivity to rejection
  • Sudden or dramatic changes in appetite 
  • Loss of sleep
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Feelings of worthlessness
  • Extreme focus on death.

Q: When is outpatient versus inpatient help needed?
A:
At Banner Health, our care is individualized to meet each patient’s needs. An initial intake assessment will be used to help you and your doctor come up with a comprehensive treatment plan that may include a combination of both inpatient and outpatient options.
