TORRINGTON, Wyo. (June 18, 2025) – Banner Health patients in Torrington and the surrounding region now have expanded access to expert care for urologic and pelvic floor conditions with the arrival of Dr. Matthew Rutman, a nationally recognized, board-certified urologist specializing in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Rutman brings extensive experience to Banner Health Community Hospital. His practice includes treating both men and women with complex urologic conditions such as urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder, urinary retention, recurrent urinary tract infections, benign prostatic hyperplasia, interstitial cystitis, prostatitis and more. He also offers advanced reconstructive surgical options for vaginal prolapse, urethral diverticulum and vesico-vaginal fistula repair, conditions more commonly seen in women after childbirth or as a result of aging and hormonal changes.
Dr. Rutman is a leader in his field and has contributed to more than 40 published medical textbooks and peer-reviewed journal articles. Before joining Community Hospital, he served as associate professor of urology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, where he directed both the Voiding Dysfunction, Incontinence and Female Urology division and the Female Urology and Voiding Dysfunction fellowship. Dr. Rutman completed his own fellowship in Female Urology, Voiding Dysfunction, Neurourology and Urodynamics under world-renowned surgeon Shlomo Raz, MD, at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is board-certified in urology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
“I’ve been fortunate to practice and teach at some of the top academic medical centers in the country, but my family and I have long dreamed of transitioning to life in a rural area where we can explore the mountains,” Dr. Rutman said. “Joining the incredible team at Community Hospital allows me to provide expert care in a community setting while embracing the outdoor lifestyle I love.”
Dr. Rutman is seeing patients in Torrington two days per month, with plans to expand his availability as patient demand grows. He will provide inpatient care, outpatient clinic visits, in-office procedures and surgical services. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Rutman, call (307) 532-8758.
