Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be certified as a diverse supplier before I can register in the supplier portal?

No, you do not need to be certified to register on our supplier portal. We use SupplierGATEWAY as the platform for our supplier portal, and it is also used for a variety of other functions within Supply Chain Services. Because of this, we do not restrict access to certified diverse suppliers.

We recognize that certification often takes time to acquire. We encourage diverse suppliers to complete certification with the agencies of their choice.

My business/company meets the definition of a diverse supplier. How does a diverse supplier become certified?

We accept most all recognized third party diverse supplier certifications. These include but are not limited to certifications issued by:

  • National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) and regional affiliates
  • Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and regional affiliates
  • U.S. Small Business Administration, Veteran Small Business Certification (VetCert)
  • Disability:IN (DOBE)
  • National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)
  • California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), The Supplier Clearinghouse
  • City of Phoenix, Equal Opportunity Department
  • State of Arizona, Department of Transportation, Business Engagement and Compliance Office
  • U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Small Business Registration

If you don’t see the certification agency that certified your business, please e-mail us at Banner Health Supplier Diversity Mailbox.

Does the Banner Health Supplier Diversity Program include Tier 1 and Tier 2 opportunities?

Yes, we do. Our Tier 1 efforts focus on commodities and services sourcing, and our Tier 2 efforts will focus on our construction efforts.

How does Banner Health engage diverse suppliers for upcoming opportunities?

Banner Health partners with regional and national third-party organizations to identify qualified suppliers. We are also committed to using our supplier portal to identify diverse suppliers for opportunities.

Does registering in the supplier portal guarantee that I will be included in upcoming bid or procurement opportunities?

Registering on our supplier portal does not oblige us to utilize your business. However, registration does provide you an opportunity to tell us more about your business capabilities and start developing a business relationship with Banner Health.

What are the areas where Banner Health spends the most with diverse suppliers?

In FY2022, Banner Health’s top 5 spend categories with diverse suppliers were:

  • Contracted Labor
  • Purchased Services
  • Advertising
  • Professional Services
  • IT

Please note procurement priorities change often. This list is provided as a guide only.

What information do I need to register in the supplier portal?

We recommend having the following information available when registering in the supplier portal: EIN, legal name, business locations, certifications, NAICS codes, core strengths and a capabilities statement.

I already do business with Banner Health and have a diverse certification. Do I still need to register in the supplier portal?

Yes, current suppliers with active certifications should still register in the supplier portal. Registering in the supplier portal is the best way to ensure that we recognize your company as a diverse supplier.
