Banner Alzheimer’s Institute: Dementia ECHO is a virtual, collaborative training and mentoring program designed to provide health care professionals at all levels of the dementia care continuum with the specialty knowledge and tools required to effectively and comfortably manage patients living with memory disorders to improve care outcomes.
The goal of this project is to assist healthcare providers in becoming regional experts in caring for these patients through a series of sessions focusing on sharing best practices, case-based learning and mentorship. Front line providers are connected with specialists using real time collaborative video conferencing sessions for one-hour twice a month over a 6-month period.
During Dementia ECHO sessions, participants present de-identified patient cases to multidisciplinary expert teams who mentor participants to manage patients with complex conditions. These case-based discussions are supplemented with short didactic presentations to improve content knowledge and share evidence-based practices.
