In 2021, we invested substantially in our nurses at Banner Health because we recognize the invaluable contribution they make to patient care, innovative research and our strong community. One part of this investment is increased pay for nurses across the board, regardless of their position or length of tenure at Banner. Better pay is one way we’re making nursing at Banner Health better than ever.
Nurses take care of all of us. This has never been more true than today, when we’ve all witnessed the incredible impact nurses have. That’s why it’s so important for us to care about nurses in return, to support and acknowledge their contributions. We’re making the whole nursing experience better by also investing in support roles, which allows nurses to focus on patient care. Because a better experience for nurses means a better experience for our patients, too.
To determine fair and competitive rates for nurses, we complete extensive research annually on nursing pay throughout the country as well as in different hospital systems. We ensure that we offer new and current nurses competitive wages for their experience and specialty. We strive to offer transparency and clarity around our compensation philosophy and account for the unique skills and experiences that each nurse brings to Banner Health.
Banner Health believes that hard work—and good work—deserves to be rewarded. We use a performance-based pay increase approach. This means that as you grow and succeed in your position, your pay will increase proportionately. Plus, we reward performance in additional ways like:
