Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is an intervention used for the treatment of bone and soft tissue injury from radiation treatment. Radiation treatment for cancer can injure muscle, soft tissue, and bone.  The symptoms can show up months and years later. These symptoms can range from pain and irritation to bleeding and non-healing wounds. This includes areas in the head and neck, breasts, vaginal, bladder and other areas of the body.
