Center for Limb Salvage

The Center for Limb Salvage is a part of the Plastic and Reconstruction Institute at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. The center delivers the gold standard for care of diabetic foot ulcers and is one of the only locations in the Valley to use the total contact cast. This foot casting technique takes your weight off your foot to reduce pressure on the wound. It has proven very successful in treating diabetic foot ulcers.

In addition, we provide treatment for those at risk of amputation because of the following conditions:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous ulcers
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Surgical wounds
  • Infectious wounds
  • Traumatic wounds

The ultimate goal of the specialists at the Center for Limb Salvage is to prevent amputations. Our podiatrists and vascular surgeons manage your care and coordinate referrals to specialists in cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, orthopedics, plastic surgery and rehabilitation as needed. The Center for Limb Salvage provides:

Patients are given educational materials regarding their individualized treatment plans that detail the expectations for their care. Family education and support is key to successful recovery. Additionally, we assist patients with the selection of shoes, orthotics and braces.
