Grief Support

The pain of loss can feel overwhelming. While it’s true grieving takes time and healing happens gradually, it doesn’t mean you have to go at it alone. It’s normal to seek help to process grief.

Banner Health’s grief support encourages you to feel your grief, while embracing your story and integrating practical tools to help navigate loss to move toward joy, hope and meaning.

What Are Symptoms of Grief?

Grieving is the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you care for is gone or significantly changed – and it’s a highly individual experience. How you grieve depends on a lot of things like your personality, ways fo coping, life experiences, faith and the circumstances surrounding loss itself.

Grief can feel like you’re on a rollercoaster. It can have a profound effect on you emotionally, mentally, spiritually, socially and physically. While each person experiences loss differently, common symptoms of grief include:

  • Shock
  • Disbelief
  • Sadness
  • Guilt
  • Anger
  • Fear
  • Loss of mental focus
  • Social isolation
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Lowered immunity
  • Weight loss or weight gain
  • Aches and pains
  • Insomnia
