Survivorship Program

Planning for life after cancer treatment

If you’ve just finished your cancer treatment, you may be wondering what’s next. We can help you live life to the fullest now that you’ve completed your treatment.

Being a cancer survivor can bring its own set of challenges. Our Survivorship Program will support you in meeting these challenges and moving on to the next phase of your life. It’s our goal to make life after cancer the best it can be.

Survivorship Care Plan

Survivorship care helps reduce, detect and treat any problems that may occur after treatment. When your active treatment is complete (surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy), we work with you to create a survivorship care plan (SCP) that includes:

  • The type of cancer and treatments you received
  • The late and long-term effects of these treatments
  • Signs and symptoms for early detection of new or returning cancers
  • Information on tests or procedures you might need after treatment
  • Lifestyle tips to help reduce cancer risk

During your appointment, we can also provide referrals to many of our integrative care programs to address nutrition, stress management, exercise, sleep and more.
Both you and your primary care provider will receive your SCP, and a copy will be placed in your medical record. At Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, we currently offer survivorship clinics for the following cancers:

  • Breast
  • Gastrointestinal (colon, anal, rectal and esophageal)
  • Genitourinary (prostate and kidney)
  • Melanoma and other cutaneous skin cancers
  • Non-small cell lung cancer

Even if you do not have one of these cancers, we can address many of your needs. Please ask a member of your cancer team for a referral.

Let us help you live life to the fullest as a cancer survivor.
