Home Infusion Therapy

If you need infusion medications but don’t need to stay in a hospital, Banner Health’s home infusion therapy program can help. You can receive treatment from skilled professionals in the comfort of your own home, while continuing your normal routine. Our goal is to help you reach the best possible health outcomes with fewer clinic visits or potential hospital stays.

What is home infusion therapy?

Some health conditions require medicine that is given through a vein, rather than as a pill. Infusion therapy delivers medication through a needle or catheter to treat infections, manage symptoms or support nutrition.

Home infusion therapy (HIT) allows you to receive these treatments at home. Banner Health’s pharmacists, nurses, dietitians and support staff work closely with your provider to monitor your progress and personalize your care.

What does home infusion therapy include?

Our team develops an infusion plan based on your needs and supports you through every step of treatment.

Common home infusion services include:

  • Antibiotics, antivirals and antifungals
  • Anticoagulation (blood thinners)
  • Anti-nausea medications
  • Fluids and hydration
  • Inotropic therapy
  • Pain management
  • Parenteral nutrition (TPN)
  • Steroid therapy

What to expect

Banner’s home infusion pharmacists monitor your response to treatment and communicate with your provider to make any needed adjustments. Home infusion nurses are trained to safely give treatments and help you feel comfortable during the process.
