Banner Health is a provider of continuing medical education for physicians, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). Banner was awarded Accreditation with Commendation in 2013, the highest accreditation awarded by the ACCME.
ACCME accreditation assures both physicians and the public that Banner-certified continuing medical education (CME) activities are objective and meet the high standards of the American Medical Association (AMA) as well as the ACCME. Banner Health’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program exists to provide medical professionals with educational opportunities which will foster ongoing learning, promote evidence-based practice, inspire the pursuit of excellence and prepare physicians to be leaders of health care innovation and change. Fulfilling this purpose will: 1) result in continual improvement of practice, and 2) promote confidence in the delivery of optimal, reliable and accessible health care.
The goal of the Banner Health CME Program is to promote excellent patient care through education for health care providers. The education provided at Banner CME activities will support physicians and other professionals to acquire knowledge that will foster changes in their practices. Measures considered to evaluate efficacy will include measurable progress on clinical initiatives, implementation of practice improvements, improved patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

The CME Program offers a variety of topics, supported by appropriate needs assessment, that include clinical practice gaps identified through the Banner Health quality programs. Overall, CME activities will be focused on the following global themes:
Programs are designed for physicians and may apply to other healthcare professionals as Banner educational activities are increasingly relevant to multi-disciplinary allied health care teams.

Banner Health may enter into joint-providerships with appropriate non-accredited organizations, upon approval of CME Leadership.
To support the mission of excellent patient care, Banner Health CME emphasizes the acquisition of knowledge, behavioral changes and clinical outcomes to evaluate the CME program.
The CME Office provides guidance with developing education that will qualify for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Other services include tracking and generating reports of accrued credits and providing information for physicians seeking educational activities.
